Launch is on April 29, 2026. We are hoping to do a one-day launch this year. Because the launch is during the week, we appreciate that many skippers will not be able to attend. We are organizing the launch so that we will be able to launch all boats regardless of whether the skippers are able to attend or not.

Shift times:

Morning shift: 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (please ensure you arrive early for shift start)

Afternoon shift: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Notes:

First time volunteering? This guide will tell you what to expect on launch / haulout

Lead sling handlers will be registered separately. A waitlist for filled-up roles will be available. All positions will be confirmed by email closer to launch.

Please wear safety gear (provided) and weather-appropriate clothing. Sling handlers must wear gloves and steel toe boots. Any volunteers who refuse to wear safety gear (as advised by the safety officer or a member of the launch / haulout committee) will be asked to leave the event and will forfeit their volunteer work hours.

Floating Dock Connection (April 29, 2026)

Volunteers needed to assist with connecting large floating dock sections and securing docks to mooring blocks with chains/snubbers.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring work gloves if you have them.

If you have tools (we could always use an extra ratchet set!)

For the safety of all people involved, and in order to make the process of raising masts more efficient, the Board has put in place a new system for use of the Mast Crane.

A certified mast crane officer must be present to unlock and operate the crane. The club will coordinate having an officer present for each scheduled event.

When you register for as session, you will need to provide the names of two people who will accompany you. If you do not have two people with you, it will not be possible to step your mast.

My motor has been installed and tested and my gas tank is onboard my boat
My mast has been located

A certified mast crane officer must be present to unlock and operate the crane. The club will coordinate having an officer present for each scheduled event.

Dinghies stored offsite (new and current dinghy members) for the winter can be brought on site starting Tuesday, May 19th.

Please wear appropriate footwear and bring work gloves if you have them.

Toronto International Outrigger Challenge (TIOC) (September 19, 2026)

TIOC is a terrific day of competitive racing and fun. Based out of the Toronto Sailing & Canoe Club (TS&CC), this popular event challenges an international field of outrigger canoe, surf ski & kayak paddlers. We have a 20km course around the Toronto Islands. The races are followed by a luau with delicious food and drink. All are welcome, including spectators!
